Just look at the specs and you’ll see that this is truly a premium kit. Engine management often makes or breaks a turbo system. The Apexi Power FC is a full standalone ECU replacement that maintains all of the stock sensors for ease of installation and reliability- it even plugs right in to your stock harness. It is also powerful enough to provide full control of fuel, spark, VVT, idle and rev limiter. The Garrett GT series turbochargers have dual ball bearings for a longer life and incredibly quick spoolup. We use the race-proven Type RS blow-off valve from industry leader GReddy- don’t settle for a cheap Chinese knockoff or an undersized leaky plastic Volkswagen valve. Our intercooler core stands a monstrous 18” wide and 12” tall by 3.5” thick- more than double the size of the intercoolers in some cheaper kits. We even take it a step further by including a full-width aluminum diverter panel that not only helps to pull cool air through the intercooler but also acts as a heat shield, isolating the intercooler area from the hot engine and exhaust. Cooling is critical in any turbocharger system both for maximum power as well as for long-term durability of the engine. Our stainless turbo manifold is professionally TIG welded for maximum penetration and strength for a long service life.

Straight out of the box you can run the system at 8-10psi to generate 245-270 hp at the wheels. That is enough to run 12-second quarter mile times and easily outrun a C5 Corvette.

Want more? Upgrade those spindly rods and cast pistons with some Crower and Wiseco pieces and add a MWR fuel pump and you can easily turn the boost up to 13-15psi

Still not enough? Add a fuel pressure regulator for even more performance- this allows you to run 17psi or even higher and generate 330-380+ hp to the wheels. At this point your engine is producing over 400hp, enough for 11-second 1/4 mile times.

The results above were all achieved with the GT28RS turbocharger, which usually makes full boost on a stock 1ZZ just above 3000rpm on the street. If you plan to keep your engine stock and want maximum response then pick the GT28R turbo which is good for a maximum of 320whp on a built engine. For a great street setup and up to 350whp the GT28RS is your best option. Still not enough? Choose the GT2871R turbo for up to 385whp and spoolup that is still quite streetable.
This kit comes with everything you need for a complete installation on your MR2 Spyder with manual transmission. SMT guys, we're working on a kit for you which should be available soon.
We recommend that you upgrade to a RPS Max Street or ACT XTSS clutch with this turbo kit. The stock clutch just doesn't stand a chance against this much torque.
