This is the complete clutch / flywheel combo for the serious racer. It is NOT well suited to street use. Included in all kits is an ultra lightweight aluminum flywheel custom made for this application. It handles the heat of serious racing use and has an ultra low inertia design for faster revving and the quickest possible acceleration.
These clutches have a billet pressure plate designed for high power applications. Its pressure is higher than conventional style aftermarket pressure plates so expect a HEAVY pedal. We also recommend adding an extended slave cylinder pushrod and braided clutch line for best release performance.
To make the clutch SLIGHTLY more street friendly, this version of the FX725 has one ceramic disc and one “fiber-tuff” disc, both with rigid hubs. Engagement is abrupt and hard – intended for track use only but slightly more street friendly than the full race version with two ceramic discs. Abrupt engagement is hard on the drivetrain and can cause gear or axle failure if your hardware is near its limitations.
The cover assembly is machined from billet aluminum with 25% more tensile strength than the competition’s cast unit. The flywheel is machined from billet 6061-T6 aluminum to meet SFI spec 1.2 for competition in NHRA, NDRA, IDRC, IHRA, SCCA and NASA. Each aluminum flywheel includes a replaceable friction surface.
