Description

Fits: 2000-05 Toyota MR2 Spyder with original 1ZZ engine

This is the cold air intake for those looking for maximum 1ZZ NA power. It is constructed of 2.5″ TIG welded aluminum for maximum flow and light weight. We powder coat the tube gloss black for a great stealthy look. The genuine K&N high flow filter is tucked down next to the left side engine compartment air inlet for a great source of cool fresh air and NO heat soak. We’ve seen gains of 5-8hp and strong midrange improvement on lightly modified vehicles even on repeated dyno runs. Much better than those systems that locate the filter near the header! To tie it all together we include a top quality multi-ply silicone coupler. No other parts are required for install.

A Power FC or ECU Master Black is recommended for maximum gains but this intake does maintain the stock 1ZZ MAF tube size so it will run great on a stock ECU. Does not cause check engine light as long as your sensors, evap system etc are in working order. Pipe has connection for the emissions hose that connects to stock airbox.

Easy install, only took about 20-30 minutes. I did have someone else helping though. You don’t need to remove the cross bar, or batter tray. Just take the battery out. It fits nicely as long as you follow instructions, and bend the tab and push the harness out of the way. Has a noticeable sucking noise at idle and at speed. Sounds great when you open the throttle up. I do have the CHE headers, and CHE down pipe with high flow cat so that contributed to some of the sound. Car has a better throttle response, and feels more alive. It seems to pull better too, but I don’t how much power it has added. No check engine light either. I do recommend.

This is definitely a pretty small setup. I used to run a HPS with a truck filter on it and you could notice a big gain and a lot of air flow. The problem was it was essentially a hot air intake due to the routing. I love that this one is directed in front of the side scoop for a constant fresh air intake. The filter I got was slightly damaged but should be okay. Overall I dig the routing but it could use a bigger filter.
