Toyota has discontinued the old style reverse blockout cover so MWR has designed and produced a new billet aluminum model. Includes cover, rubber boot, internal spring and retainer plate, even a new OEM mounting gasket.
Most people will also want MWR’s CONVERSION LEVER to upgrade the shift lever assembly inside the car for full compatibility with the 6-speed shift pattern to ensure easy reverse gear selection.
Great looks, precise fit and even better reverse selection make this the best (and only) reverse blockout available. Beware of other retailers that have the old toyota unit advertised, it was discontinued some time ago so it’s very unlikely any more are in stock anywhere.
MWR reverse blockout is needed when installing a Celica or Matrix 6-speed in an MR2 Spyder. It gives you the same positive resistance feel you’d have in a Celica or Matrix so that you can clearly feel the difference between the reverse and 1-2 shift gates. No more embarrassing gear selection mistakes!
For installing the 6-speed in your MR2 you’ll also need a shifter shaft:

Standard 5-speed axles, mounts, shifter and cables all work fine – no other parts needed for the swap.
