Description

Finally, an easy and reliable way to service the valve springs of your 2ZZ-GE, 1ZZ-FE, 2GR-FE or 2GR-FSE/FKS (as well as many other models) without removing the head from the block or even removing the engine from the car. This patented tool, manufactured by Toyotool and specially modified by MWR for use on the ZZ, GR, ZR engines, allows you to easily remove and reinstall the valve spring keepers.

This means you can:

  • Upgrade valve springs and/or retainers
  • Remove valve springs for service and inspection
  • Replace broken valve springs
  • Replace worn valve seals

Also very useful during an engine rebuild. If you’ve ever attempted to service the valvetrain of these engines even on the bench you’ve probably found a lot of frustration dealing with the tight access and tiny parts. This tool very easily removes and reinstalls the keepers allowing anything from inspection to valve upgrade to repair.

I bought this tool. It works well for removing and replacing valve springs with the heads in place on the block – maybe even better than I expected. I wish it would seat the retainer in the tube slightly, instead of only pressing down on it flush, this would make the operation feel a little bit more secure. Working with the engine on a stand, it was tricky to keep the stand in place while pressing down at the angle of the V6 heads, but not an insurmountable difficulty, I just reached over and grabbed the opposite head with one arm while pressing down with the other – probably this would not even be an issue with an I4 where the pressure is applied straight down, or maybe I need a better more adjustable stand, so I can place each head straight up. Anyway it’s good that I’m a brute, if you’re a little teeny wisp of a thing then you might want to try something that gives you mechanical advantage, otherwise be prepared to bear down using this tool, and it will do the job.

    Works great.
If upgrading to dual springs you realy need a to push hard. Stock springs are cake..

This tool is by far the easiest tool i have ever used to remove and install valve springs. It worked flawlessly and I would recommend it to anyone.
