Description

Fits: 2000-05 MR2 Spyder All (includes 2ZZ swaps)

The engine in the MR2 Spyder is supported by 4 engine mounts. The transmission end and timing belt end mounts support the full weight of the drive train, while the front and rear mounts control the torque produced by the engine. With age, heat, and possibly a little more power than Toyota intended, these front and rear mounts can deteriorate over time and allow the engine to move too much under acceleration and engine braking. A hard launch can lurch the engine back and forth violently, and reduce the amount of power actually transmitted to the ground. This can alcu be a large factor in causing wheel hop.

The Speed-Source Polyurethane Engine Mount Kit is engineered to replace the stock rubber sections of the front and rear mounts with solid polyurethane. A steel insert keeps the poly mounts centered and locates the thru-bolt. With this kit installed, the car will be more responsive to throttle input, launch more effectively, and the LSD will engage more reliably.

Included in the kit are 4 polyurethane bushings, 2 metal inserts, and fully illustrated instructions. These mounts will fully replace the old rubber and metal mounts, not merely fill the holes in them. The polyurethane mounts are commercially formulated, poured, and post-cured, and the metal inserts are zinc-dichromate plated for corrosion resistance. These will give years of trouble free service. This formulation of polyurethane will transmit some vibrations into the cabin, most evident at idle.

I’ve used poly mounts on several applications and every engine/chassis combination varies but the increased vibration and noise levels have never been as disagreeable as they are with this particular combo. I installed the inserts at the same time I replaced the gearbox and the first time I started the engine afterwards, I thought I had damaged the exhaust system sometime during the swap. The resonance is particularly bad just above idle (bad enough that the rearview mirror is always getting shaken out of adjustment) but that isn’t the only time it’s beyond a little annoying and no matter how you alter your driving/shift points while trying to minimize it, there is just no real solution. I’ve put up with a lot of “inconveniences” on many different vehicles in the interest of performance but not this time, I removed them after less than 100 miles. Don’t install them on your daily driver/street vehicle.

They are poly mounts so there will be much more engine vibration in the cockpit would not recommend if you enjoy a comfy ride, but if your like me and don’t care about that the vibration the feel is really sporty and enjoyable

I freaking love these. Granted I have only been driving with them for about 30 miles. Definitely more stiff and A little vibration. Very tolerable. Rear view mirror does shimmy or vibrate a little. But seriously I do feel like I freed up a good amount of horsepower. My o-60 is faster. I actually felt a bigger rise in hp doing this vs the cold air intake. Either way you look at it, it’s a pretty good upgrade for less than a 100bucks. My mr2 spyder is a daily driver; but once a month I race it. So it’s nice to be able to soup it up a little.
Hope this has helped y’all decide if y’all wanted to get it. I would suggest it to anyone who doesn’t care about a slightly rougher ride.

they are good if the car is NOT for everyday driving. you can get used for vibration….but be ready for your left and right mount to DIE FAST(((

Very satisfied; car feels very tight now compared to before, albeit my stock mount were not completely worn out, and gearshift and handling have been improved a lot.
I was worried about vibrations, but they are very bearable to me; they just become a little bad at very low speed, like re-accelerating in 1°-2° gear from 1000 to 1500rpm, but tend to decrease a little after a few days of use.

I put these 2 lower bushings in and replaced the top 2 engine mounts with O.E. new when I 2zz swapped. they work great. I get a little vibration 1-2k rpm. After that, very smooth. feel them a lot on the cold start. Ive driven much worst. if you want smooth all the time, stay away.
